(No broken ties etc) We reserve the right to refuse offerings or to offer what we consider fair. We charge a fee to dismantle existing layouts. Minimum, $100 per square foot. We do not have facilities to store Layout boards. Best of all is to bring your collection in to the store. If there are many boxes, just a few at a time. An offer to purchase can be made only after seeing and testing your collection. General observation: Sellers often declare their items to be "Brand New". This is far from realistic. One likely very valuable locomotive so described arrived with more evidence of being a football than a model locomotive. "Brand New" in its original box it may have realized $1800 we were lucky to sell it for $50, for parts. Lionel collections are popularly regarded as worth a lot of money. This is not true, given that the vast majority, were purchased as a starter set at the lowest end of the range. Although new prices for Lionel are high these older items are worth very little. An exceptional piece in its original box may prove otherwise. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The National Model Railroad Association suggests that model trains will not realize anything near the investment placed in the purchase of your hobby. 10% is considered a good recovery. In this light it is suggested that you give fair consideration to the emotional value of these hobby items. Experience has led us to the following rule of thumb. Males will start a collection from age 7. Collect until age 16, whereupon other interests and responsibilities affect their senses until they return home at age 27 looking for, "that old toy train set". Recovery of the set leads to continued collection and eventual ownership of a suitable basement to establish the ultimate railroad empire. Later, if grandchildren can be encouraged in the hobby the collection is passed on to them. Please consider this as you dispose of your collection Recycling donations. -------------------- Items such as couplers, trucks, or track that can be reused are accepted. All usable parts etc. will be considered with thanks. Click the arrow to return to the previous page.
